Is the best solution to the problems plaguing the US immigration
system to export nearly all immigrants and start over?
The United States is the country with the
highest number of immigrants. Immigrants who work, pay taxes, learn and speak
English, and give birth to children who grow up as Americans. They are
Americans. They are legal. They are part of the country.
On the other hand, there are some immigrants
who differ. Approximately over 10 million undocumented immigrants live in
America, for a variety of reasons. Many of them flee from bad circumstances in
their home countries due to war or bad
economy.
Things like desperation or the fabled “American
Dream” lures them to immigrate.
But what they expect is often not what they
get.. As an illegal citizen, you must hide from everything. To earn money, some of them start dealing with drugs
or start prostuting themseves. But it is this group of
normal employed immigrants on which the foundation of the American economy is
built. Unfortunately, what stays is the bad notion, the prejudices that stoke
fear.
Trump’s proposal of exporting all immigrants
does not make sense although it was highly convincing to the people of America,
so convincing that he became president..
Suppose America exports all immigrants: would
they find every single illegal immigrant? Would their home countries welcome immigrants
after years and decades of not living there? How many people can even stay in
the US? What happens to the Amercians? Those who would be left alone. Those who
would have to replace a gap of millions of people. People who supported their
lives and who were friends. People of whom you do not even no they were
immigrants.
Despite all the sad occasions ,such as 9/11,
one has to consider one fact: immigration is not terrorism. Immigration as a valid
and structured system helps a country. It offers diversity. In times of
globalisation, one has to think about the impact such an export of immigrants would
have on the world. Hopefully Trump’s wall at the southern border persists
unbelievable. Can you believe in building fences to humanity?
